"My BAMMA FISH FRY seasoned cornmeal breading always takes me back to the days when I was a little girl. My late Grandmother Sarah (Jefferson) Brown from Santee, SC, would season her cornmeal with special herbs and spices while singing along to old gospel hymns on her record player. She took her time frying fresh caught whiting and porgies on her aged cast iron skillet, with a side of hot buttered grits or cornbread. It was a radiant golden brown color with a delightful taste and crisp texture I'll never forget...you could taste the love and southern sass she put into it”
